1. Exodus 20:1-20 (esv), 1. And God spoke all these words, saying, 2. “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3. “You shall have no other gods before me. 4. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6. but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. 8. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10. but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. 12. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. 13. “You shall not murder. 14. “You shall not commit adultery. 15. “You shall not steal. 16. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17. “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.” 18. Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off 19. and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.” 20. Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.”

2. Deuteronomy 6:5 (esv), 1. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

3. Psalm 19:9 (esv), 9. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.

4. Psalm 23:1-6 (esv), 1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

5. Psalm 46:10 (esv), 10. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

6. Psalm 138:2 (esv), 2. I bow down toward your (God’s) holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

7. Proverbs 3:5-6 (esv), 5. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

New Testament

11. Matthew 5:6 (esv), 6. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Matthew 6:19-24 (esv), 19. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20. but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22. “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23. but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24. “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

13. Matthew 6:31-33 (esv), 31. Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

14. Matthew 10:37-39 (esv), 37. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

15. Matthew 22:37 (esv), 37. And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

16. Matthew 25:32-46 (esv), 32. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36. I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38. And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39. And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40. And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ 41. “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43. I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44. Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45. Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46. And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

17. Mark 12:30 (esv), 30. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

18. Luke 12:28-31 (esv), 28. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

19. Luke 14:25-33 (esv), 25. Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29. Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30. saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31. Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32. And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

20. Luke 24:1-14 (esv), 1. But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living (Jesus) among the dead?

21. John 1:1-5 (esv), 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2. He was in the beginning with God. 3. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

22. John 1:14 (esv), 14. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
